Awake Overnight Direct Care Counselor
Reports to: Clinical Program Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Job Summary :
The Awake Overnight Direct Care Counselor is responsible to be available to and assist the clients during the night. Assist with morning activities as needed.
Essential Functions:
- Remain awake, alert and responsive to the needs of the clients throughout the shift.
- Provide crisis intervention as needed.
- Perform physical intervention in the event of a client crisis.
- Provide routine checks according to program procedure.
- Train clients in and conduct nighttime fire drills.
- Ensure the safe evacuation of clients from the program during a fire or fire drill.
- Assist clients with morning activities as needed and assist with cleaning.
- Implement established treatment programs.
- Record clients' activities in the daily log.
- Report significant health, psychiatric or behavioral issues to the on-call person in accordance with program procedure.
- Attend trainings and maintain current certifications as required by Advocates policy and procedure.
- Attendance at supervision and staff meetings.
- Perform clerical and/or administrative tasks as directed by supervisor.
- Ensure clean, safe and home-like environment for program clients.
- Ensure that clients are treated with dignity and respect in accordance with Advocates' Human Rights policy.
- Perform all duties in accordance with the agency's policies and procedures.
- Strictly follow all agency Performance Standards.

Qualification/Education/Experience/Personal Characteristics:
- High School Diploma or GED plus 6 months related experience.
- Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Ability to read English and communicate effectively in the primary language of the program to which he/she is assigned.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and possess the ability to use good judgment.
- Sensitivity to the needs of the population.
- High energy level, superior interpersonal skills and ability to function in a team atmosphere.
- Must hold a valid drivers' license. Must have access to an operational and insured vehicle and be willing to use it to transport clients.
