Clinical Support
The history of Advocates is rooted in its original efforts to help people diagnosed with psychiatric disorders to live well and function fully in the community in the least restrictive way possible. Today that mission extends to virtually any person dealing with mental health issues.
Full-service clinical supports create a complete safety net of psychiatric care for people experiencing either acute or chronic mental health challenges. Programs for adults, children, the elderly, and families are designed first to stabilize then support the person as he or she develops coping skills that will strengthen and grow.
Among the services we provide is Senior Support Services, a non-emergency program to improve access to mental health and substance abuse services for elders in the greater Framingham area. Services are provided in collaboration with Bay Path Elder Services, Inc., who screen the initial calls and make referrals to Advocates’ Psychiatric Emergency Services. Requests for elder care may come from family members, police, elder service providers or other community members.
Advocates’ Region V Clinical Services Team provides a unique service to people with developmental disabilities living in Southern Massachusetts, the Cape and the Islands. This team provides behavioral and psychiatric emergency services to people with developmental disabilities, with the goal of helping people stay in their homes in the community. In collaboration with Arbour-Fuller Hospital in South Attleboro, Advocates provides clinical direction and services on a special inpatient unit created specifically to assist individuals with developmental disabilities and psychiatric needs. The Clinical Services Team works closely with the Arbour-Fuller unit to provide both inpatient and after-care services that are uniquely designed to serve each person's needs.
